Copper Lugs and Splices For Flexible Cables

Copper Lugs and Splices For Flexible Cables Tinley Park, IL -- Panduit Corp. introduces a new line of copper lugs and butt splices for flexible and extra flexible copper cables. Designed specifically for flex weld and locomotive cable, the product line includes Type LCAF flared barrel, one-hole copper lugs and Type SCSF flared barrel, copper butt splices. Panduit developed the new copper lugs and splices to promote simplified matching of cables to lugs and dies. These new products will be used extensively by MRO and OEM in the locomotive, oil drilling, tractor, motor control and panel shop industries.

The new Panduit copper lugs and splices feature a flared barrel end that permits easy insertion of flexible cables and virtually eliminates "turned back" wire strands. In addition, the color coded barrel design provides simple identification of the proper die size to eliminate selection of incorrect dies during assembly. A specially designed inspection hole assures proper cable length insertion, and the copper lug tongue contains a stamped part number and stud size for easy identification. Panduit copper lugs and butt splices are manufactured from seamless copper tubing for high conductivity, and they contain an electro tin plated finish for increased corrosion resistance. They can be used for applications up to 35 kV with proper high voltage insulation techniques.

The new line of Panduit copper lugs and splices for flex cables are UL listed and CSA certified when installed using Panduit assembly tools. Panduit assembly equipment includes controlled-cycle hand operated tools, controlled-cycle hydraulic hand tools as well as a series of portable, battery-operated crimping tools.
