REEL SMART™ Terminations Tooling Test Highlights of UL310 Listing

Suggested Specification for PAN-TERM® Non-Insulated Terminals
Non-insulated ring or fork compression type terminals shall be Panduit PAN-TERM® P-series type terminals. The terminals shall be tin-plated copper, fully annealed, with a brazed seam and stamped markings on the tongue. The barrel shall be of extended length, with internal barrel serrations for high reliability terminations. Panduit recommended tooling shall be used for installation.

Suggested Specification for PAN-TERM® Vinyl Insulated Terminals
Vinyl insulated ring or fork compression type terminals shall be Panduit PAN-TERM® PV-series type terminals. The terminal shall be tin-plated copper, fully annealed, with a brazed seam and stamped markings on the tongue. The barrel shall be of extended length, with internal barrel serrations for high reliability terminations. The insulation shall be vinyl, with a funnel-type entry. Panduit recommended tooling shall be used for installation.

Suggested Specification for PAN-TERM® Nylon Insulated Terminals
Nylon insulated ring or fork compression type terminals shall be Panduit PAN-TERM® PN or PNF-series type terminals. The terminal shall be tin-plated copper, manufactured with a 3-piece construction, fully annealed with stamped markings on the tongue. A tin-plated brass insulation grip sleeve will be used for strain relief. This brass sleeve will be permanently attached to the wire barrel and be nylon insulated. Panduit recommended tooling shall be used for installation.

Suggested Specification for PAN-TERM® Disconnects
Insulated or non-insulated compression type disconnects shall be Panduit PAN-TERM® disconnects. The disconnect shall be made of tin-plated brass, with stamped markings. When insulation is required, nylon or vinyl material shall be used. Panduit recommended tooling shall be used.

Suggested Specification for PAN-TERM® Butt Splices
Insulated or non-insulated compression type splices shall be Panduit PAN-TERM® butt splices. The butt splice shall be made of tin-plated copper, with stamped markings on the barrel. The butt splice shall have a brazed seam, with an internal wire stop. When insulation is required, nylon or vinyl material shall be used. Panduit recommended tooling shall be used for installation.

Suggested Specification for PAN-TERM® Parallel Splices
Insulated or non-insulated compression type splices shall be Panduit PAN-TERM® parallel splices. The parallel splice shall be made of tin-plated copper. When insulation is required, nylon material shall be used. Panduit recommended tooling shall be used.

Suggested Specification for PAN-TERM® Screw-On Connectors
Screw-on type connectors shall be Panduit P-CONN"! connectors. The connector shall be nylon insulated, with appropriate barrel markings. The P-CONN"! connector shall have an expanding square wire spring. Panduit recommended installation procedures shall be followed.

Suggested Specification for PAN-TERM® Wire Joints
Insulated or non-insulated multiple wire compression type connectors shall be Panduit PAN-TERM® wire joints. The wire joint shall be made of tin-plated copper, with stamped markings on the barrel or housing. When insulation is required, nylon material shall be used. Panduit recommended tooling shall be used for installation.

Suggested Specification for REEL SMART"! Terminations
High volume production terminations shall be made with Panduit REEL SMART"! terminals, disconnects, and butt splices. The terminals, disconnects and butt splices shall be furnished on a continuously molded strip, with the integrally molded carrier at the barrel crimp zone, packaged on a spool-type reel. The terminals, disconnects and butt splices shall be stamped with the appropriate markings. These products shall be terminated using a single applicator (CA-800) employing multiple die sets (CD-800-*).

Tooling
The installation tooling used shall be a controlled cycle crimping tool as manufactured by Panduit. These tools are designed to prevent undercrimping and overcrimping. These tools leave an embossed die marking on the terminal, signifying a proper crimp. This includes, but is not limited to the following Panduit Tools: The CT-310-1, CT-400, CT-460, CT-500, CT-510, CT-520, CT-550, CT-570 or the CT-600, CT-1014, CT-1015, CT-1550, CT-1551 or the CT-1570. The tool used shall be chosen based on the type of terminal, disconnect, or splice and the manufacturer's recommendations.
