Iglide Q
iglide Q has been developed specifically for high-pressure applications. Extreme radial loads occur time and
again in lift tables and material handling equipment. Bearings can be subjected to high pressures in clamping operations
and hoisting equipment. External lubricants can be squeezed out of metal bearings under such conditions. Solid
lubricants can be squeezed out of metal bearings under such conditions.
Solid lubricant films such as PTFE or Molybdenum Disulfide can be ineffective in high load situations. Within the
iglide product range, iglide Q displays by far the highest wear resistance under high loads.
Special Characteristics of iglide Q
High abrasion resistance under extreme loads
Maintenance-free, dry-running
Reduces mechanical vibrations
High PV values
Suitable for rotary, oscillating, and linear motion
Compressive Strength
Comparative tests versus all other bearings available on the market showed that the advantages of iglide Q bearings,
in terms of wear, increase at higher radial loads. For example, the graph below indicates a lower wear rate for
iglide Q than for a steel-backed PTFE bearing under lab conditions.
The higher the load, the greater the advantages of iglide Q. iglide Q bearings are more wear-resistant than iglide
L280 at loads of more than 3,625 psi.
Coefficient of Friction
iglide Q bearings can achieve coefficient of friction values of 0.03 in high load conditions. It is typical for
friction values of dry-running thermoplastic bearings to drop as radial load is increased. In comparison with other
iglide bearings, which also achieve excellent friction values at high loads, iglide Q shows extraordinary values
with loads greater than 4,350 psi. Friction is high at start-up, but drops following a short break-in period.
PV value: 42,000 psi x ft/min maximum
Coefficient of friction for iglide Q against steel with pressure > 4,350 psi

Operating Temperatures
iglide Q bearings retain their excellent wear resistance even at high temperatures. The ideal temperature range
for continuous operation is between -40°F and 275°F. At higher temperatures, it may be necessary to secure
the bearing in the housing bore using an adhesive. iglide bearings can loosen in instances of frequent temperature
change or long exposure periods.

Shaft Materials
Ground steel shafting with hardness to at least 50RC is recommended. For ideal friction values, surface roughness
should be 8-20 RMS. Please consult an igus sales engineer about our experience when using special shaft materials.
Flammability
iglide Q has passed flammability testing per FMVSS 302-75
Chemical Resistance
iglide Q bearings display very good chemical resistance to organic solvents, fuels, oils, and greases.
