Iglide solves problems

No Maintenance

All iglide bearings are ready for use upon installation into the housing bore. The microscopic abrasion which occurs during operation causes a continuous self-lubricating effect, thus eliminating the need for maintenance.

Dry Operation

All iglide bearings are designed for dry operation, without additional lubrication. The material composition facilitates dry operation with extremely low abrasion values. Stick-slip should not occur if the catalog specifications are followed.

Abrasion Resistance

All iglide bearings operate at very low abrasion levels under rotating, oscillating and axial motion. The material composition gives abrasion-free and scratch-free surfaces with its high level of crystallization. Operating life is frequently increased when compared to plain metal, anti-friction ball and needle bearings.

Misalignment

All iglide bearings withstand high unit loads (up to21,750 PSI) and have proven to be more flexible than metallic materials. With the existence of overturning or edge loading, iglide bearings are capable of flexing, then returning to their original shape after the load is released.

Dirt, Dust and Lint

All iglide bearings are capable of dry operation. Under extremely dirty conditions, dirt particles are embedded into the bearing wall with little or no effect on bearing performance.

Chemicals, Corrosion

iglide bearings are resistant to oils, greases, alcohols, alkaline solutions, motor fuels, hydrocarbons, esters and ketone bodies. iglide T500 is almost totally resistant to all chemicals, even to etching acids.

Temperatures

iglide bearings operate at temperatures ranging from 212°F - 485°F in continuous, uninterrupted operation. For short duration, they are capable of withstanding temperature peaks of 600°F. The other versions of iglide bearings can be utilized for temperatures ranging between -40°F and+265°F.

Compressive Strength

iglide bearings accept high levels of radial and axial load. Even under extremely high loads the solid lubricant will not be lost or displaced. Linear motion is therefore possible even under high load conditions. The maximum allowable contact pressure for iglide T500 is 21,750 PSI. Applies also for other iglide grades.

Vibration Control

All iglide bearings absorb, or dampen, mechanical vibrations. The so-called mechanical loss factor, which is decisive for vibration dampening, is up to 250 times higher with iglide than with plain metal bearings.

Rotating and Oscillating Operation

Under oscillating loads all iglide bearings operate maintenance-free. Stick-slip effect is avoided and wear is minimized. During rotation, the heat conductivity and low wall thickness if iglide bearings permit relatively high speeds, even during continuous operation.

Linear Operation

All iglide bearings are especially well suited for linear applications. Other bearings are based on the principle of transferring external lubricants to the shaft. The resulting lubricant film, however, pushes forward during subsequent movement, causing lubricant build up and, ultimately, a complete loss of lubricant. iglide bearings operate differently. The microscopic abrasions of the bearing fill the surface profile of the shaft (no film build up), resulting in the best possible interface. The material composition assures durable, abrasion free sliding motion.

FDA Approved

iglide A200 is FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approved. Contact with all food and pharmaceuticals is permitted.

Low Noise

All iglide bearings more flexible than metallic materials. They can absorb vibrations and tolerate higher bearing clearances and are designed for quiet operation, especially compared to anti-friction bearings.

Space Savings

Minimum wall thicknesses, ranging from 0.75 to 2.5 mm, reduce housing size for all designs. Additionally, iglide bearings represent significant weight reductions compared to metallic bearings. The thin walls permit excellent heat conductivity.

Easy Installation

All iglide bearings are designed to be press fit into the housing. No special fitting tools are required due to the low friction material. They can be pressed without special lubricants. iglide bearings are designed to ensure the tight fit of the bearing is maintained under all operating conditions. The correct running clearance is automatically obtained if recommended tolerances of the shaft and housing are followed. No final adjustment or machining is necessary.

Availability

In excess of 1600 sizes are available from stock in six material grades for prototype, pre-production and production.

Cost Effectiveness

All iglide bearings offer several major cost reduction options: Cost of individual bearings, reduced maintenance and design costs when compared to plain metal and anti-friction bearings.
