ABE : Doing Our Part to Conserve Energy
15 Apr 2010, 7:00 pm
Anaheim has teamed up with property management and the City of Anaheim to make our office Energy Efficient!
As an incentive to businesses for energy efficiency, Anaheim as provided a program to retrofit inefficient light bulbs, old magnetic ballasts, and an air conditioning inspection to qualifying businesses. We were able to coordinate with our property management to fund this upgrade so that we can take advantage of this green opportunity.
The lighing upgrade has just been completed. This improvement to our office has provided nice, steady lighting, which is expected to reduce eye fatigue as well as reduce our energy bill!
Another example that ABE is doing our part to conserve energy!

Remote Monitoring Solutions
28 Mar 2010, 6:00 pmPart 3 of a 3-part series on Electronic Access Solutions
It might be a simple indicator light or a sophisticated monitoring system. Whatever the choice, a remote monitoring solution is the final piece to a full Electronic Access Solution (EAS).
So how does it work? Let’s take Southco’s H3-EM Electronic Locking Swinghandle as an example. In this scenario, the Swinghandle provides electronic access security to datacenter cabinets. Its integrated sensors and multiple output signals provide data for both local and remote monitoring. The swinghandle can be integrated with industry standard rack monitoring solutions with a simple retrofit, and the microprocessor-controlled gear motor design ensures minimal power consumption and multi-event status reporting.
The possibilities with today’s remote monitoring solutions are endless. You can provide an electronic “signature” each time a lock is actuated. Combined with a unique input credential, the system can provide the necessary output to networked systems to control and monitor access from any remote location. You can use an EAS with an existing networked control system that is down the hall or across the globe. And we can help.
If you'd like to get started on an electronic access solution integration, be sure to check out our new EAS Guide. It will walk you through the basic components you will need for your system. Once you know what you want, contact our dedicated design team with your design requirements so we can help get your project rolling!

Linear Motion Slide Solution from Accuride
30 Sep 2009, 7:00 pm
Accuride announces the launch of Model 115, a linear motion ball bearing slide that provides captive travel within the length of the outer member.
Model 115 may be side, flat, or vertically mounted. When mounted vertically, it may be used as a guide in non load-bearing applications. This product provides a low-cost solution for component guidance, support, or adjustment in a wide range of applications such as access to laptop docking stations in utility vehicles; bins for postal vehicles; reading machines for the visually impaired; traffic barriers; diagnostic equipment; and material handling in manufacturing machinery.
When mounted flat in pairs, Model 115 offers up to a 132-pound load rating; side mounted installations are up to 110 pounds per pair. A guide belt synchronizes the moving elements of the slide, ensuring smooth and consistent travel, while the moving member is fully supported on ball bearings at all times.
This product has been tested to 10,000 cycles and is available in zinc in lengths of 12" to 28" in 2" increments, plus 32", 36", and 40". It is RoHS compliant.
Activant Trading Partner Connect Helps Above Board Electronics Transmit Error-Free Communications
6 May 2009, 7:00 pmWhile technology has generally improved communication, there are still moments when confusion arises, and for Above Board Electronics (ABE), a distributor of electronic fasteners and components, a single miscommunication is one too many.
"The number of line items per transaction can be very high, so accurately transferring information to several different hands is a big challenge," explains Dantes Rosete, ABE's IT manager. "When a customer orders a part, it goes to a salesperson, then to a customer-service representative to be entered, and then to the supplier, so each point is a critical area where an error can be crippling."
Needing an answer that would eliminate miscommunication and data-entry errors, Rosete and the team at ABE turned to Trading Partner Connect, Activant's Internet trading network for distributors and manufacturers. "The nomenclature for our parts is much more complicated than UPC codes, so having Trading Partner Connect as a means of standardizing communication is indispensable," Rosete says.
